Last week was a busy, but wonderful week. It was one of those weeks when everything suddenly seems to happen at once, and your life is turned upside down - but in a good way.
Yesterday - no, I'm going to tell everything backwards - we went to Hilversum, where cineast and writer Hans Koekoek had organised a Writers Podium, where writers read from their own work.

I read the Dutch version of my poem cure, and a short piece of fiction I'd written especially for this occasion. The atmosphere was relaxed and informal, so I wasn't nervous at all, and really enjoyed reading to the public. Judging by the applause I got, the public really enjoyed my poem and short story a lot.

After the event, we went back home with Hans and some others for a drink and a bite to eat at his place. I got to know some very nice and interesting people, and definitely intend to go again next time.
Now I think I'm ready to tell you about the rest of my week in chronological order.
On Monday, I spent most of the day tidying up and moving furniture around in the house, because on Tuesday we had a film crew here: Three Arts students making a documentary about home education.

It was a fabulous day, with those three girls filming a lot of the things we typically do as a home educating family. Things like practising for our 16-year old's Drama Class.

I spent all of Wednesday moving more furniture around, because on Thursday, we had our new grand piano delivered to our home.
Just look at this. I think it's really quite impressive.

I moved my desk to a corner of the room, near the window and doors to the garden. Even though you can't see it in the picture, I've got a lovely view from behind my desk now.

Quite a change from how it used to be.
